Kentucky Derby Traditions-Big Hats and Bourbon – Dixieland Monogram

The Kentucky Derby is all about tradition; big hats, Lilly Pulitzer, fast horses, and of course the Mint Julep. For over a century Derby patrons have been consuming the classic cocktail at Churchill Downs. Just last year they sold 120,000 mint juleps, which requires 60,000 pounds of ice, 1,000 pounds of fresh mint, and most importantly 10,000 bottles of Old Forrester Ready-to-Serve Cocktail. For those of you not able to attend the event here are some "traditions" you can do from the comfort of your own home.
